The CUSOM Academic Year 2024-2025 VSLO Catalog will open on March 1, 2024. Departments review applications and will begin making rolling offers within VSLO for rotations beginning on April 1, 2024.

VSLO can be used by medical students from U.S. LCME accredited schools and U.S. osteopathic medical schools in their final year of Medical School. We have joined the VSLO Global Network so we can now accept medical students from international schools within the Global Network.

• A completed application must be on file no less than eight weeks prior to the course's beginning date.
• Immunization form must be completed, signed by your school and returned with your application. Individual health records will not be accepted.
• Respiratory Mask fit testing (Any type is fine - in general we use 3M N95)
• HIPAA training
• USMLE or COMLEX Transcripts
• Personal health insurance
• BLS or ACLS certified Criminal Background Report
• Malpractice Insurance $1,000,000/$3,000,000
• In Good academic standing and in final year of study
• Instruction for OSHA safety measures and infection control precautions

A nonrefundable application fee of $150 for MD students is due on receipt of an offer for externship if the externship is accepted by the student. Students from schools that are not LCME accredited, including international medical students, are required to pay a nonrefundable fee of $4,150 ($4000 tuition plus the $150 application fee) on receipt of an offer and acceptance of externship. Our tuition fee is assessed to any student outside of our common accreditation body, the LCME. The LCME accredits only the schools that grant a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree. Osteopathic medical schools that grant the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree are accredited by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association. MD students are not assessed additional fees as they are able to attend reciprocal intuitions. Unfortunately, MD students are not able to rotate in clinical rotations at Osteopathic Institutions or International Institutions. Some allopathic schools may enter in to separate agreements with local osteopathic schools to ensure core rotations for their students at specific clinical sites but in VSLO, for our electives, we have a relationship with Rocky Vista University. Some departments have awards to help offset the cost of these fees and that information will be added in their course description. We also have the following discounts available below:

100% tuition discount for Rocky Vista Students (Colorado Campus Students only), 50% discount for Colorado Residents: $2,000 per 4 week elective for Colorado Residents – (Colorado residency form required for verification). Administrative Fee Reduction for Primary Care: The CU School of Medicine Curriculum Steering Committee has approved a 75% administrative fee reduction for certain primary care electives. These are limited only to:

• PHMD 8000 – Physical Medicine and Rehab

Upon completion of the course, student evaluations will be sent by the department course coordinator for the elective. If your school requires their evaluation form be used please include the form with your application material. Visiting students are also responsible for supplying a copy to the course coordinator once assigned.

We ask that you bring your home school student ID with you. A temporary student ID will be issued, which along with your home school ID will be used for identification on clinical services.
